Better Jobs Ontario clients can train at Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology, Career Colleges, Indigenous Institutes, universities, and school boards across Ontario.

How long can skills training be, and does it have to lead to a credential?

The training period (time between the start and end date, including breaks/vacation and placement) cannot exceed 52 weeks. Skills training normally leads to a credential, such as a micro-credential, certificate, or diploma, as long as it can be attained within one year or less.

What kind of skills training can participants take with financial support through Better Jobs Ontario?

Skills training is allowable for National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2021 Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities (TEER) category 2, 3 or 4 occupations and equivalent with good employment prospects in Ontario. When is a client accepted into the program?

Once the individual employment service plan is developed based on a comprehensive needs assessment, it is mutually agreed upon between the client and service provider, and signed by both parties, the client is officially accepted into the program. At this point we refer to a client as a program participant.
