When should students’ Ontario Youth Apprenticeship (OYAP) participation be updated to “complete”?

This box should be checked when OYAP participants obtain their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and have left high school. Please refer to the school board’s OYAP contract agreement or the EOPG for the exact start date and the due date.

Should I update the special program outcome after students have finished their co-op placements?

No. If students quit a co-op placement, you can withdraw them at any time during the school year. Otherwise, wait until the students have left high school. Further details are provided below.

Yes. There is an interface between Canada Post and the EOIS-APPR which is updated regularly.

Can I print a list of the students in the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) within my school board?

Yes, boards can print a Client List. Please refer to the EOIS-APPR User Manual for School Boards for instructions.

Can I enrol students in the Educational Assistant trade?

Yes, however, these students must be interested in an Educational Assistant career and be placed with qualified trainers in this trade (journeypersons or equivalent). Are there trades that the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) cannot be enrolled in?

Yes, there are some that have requirements that OYAP students would not meet. For example, OYAP students can enrol in the Cook trade but not in the Chef trade. To enrol in the Chef trade, applicants must have a Certificate of Qualification in Cook.
