If an OYAP participant has more than one program (trade), which one should I label as “OYAP-FAST”?
Select only one trade – the trade that the participant was in when they completed 8 or more credits. For example, a participant completed 4 credits in Cook in grade 11, then completed 4 more credits in Baker in grade 12; select the Baker trade to label as OYAP-FAST.
What if I make a mistake and need to edit personal information, or I need to update some information?
You can update Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) participants’ personal information except last name, first name, and Social Insurance Number (SIN). We have new staff members who need training to use the EOIS-APPR. What resources are available?
It is the responsibility of the District School Board (DSB) to train new staff members on use of the EOIS-APPR. To assist DSBs, the ministry provides information, forms and manuals available through myEOIS. You may also contact your local ministry office for assistance.
What do I do if I have questions?
Please contact your local ministry Employment and Training Consultant responsible for your school board’s Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program contract agreement.
What happens when I update the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship (OYAP) participation to complete or withdrawn, will I be able to see the student’s record?
You will still see the student’s record on the screen, until you exit that record. Then you will no longer see it in your Client List. Note that the record is not deleted; records remain in the system and are visible to ministry staff. Do I have to enter the graduation date in the “date of graduation” field?
Yes. Enter the date of graduation for students who obtain their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. This provides confirmation to the ministry that the students obtained their diplomas.
Do I have to complete or withdraw each program separately, or is there a way to complete or withdraw all programs for one student at one time?
Yes. If the information entered is the same for all programs, you can select the client and then update the special program outcome for all programs. See section 4.2.2 of the EOIS-APPR User Manual for School Boards.
How do I complete or withdraw a student who has more than one Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) program participation?
Please follow these guidelines: When a student quits an OYAP placement, you can update the program outcome to “withdrawn” at any time during the school year. When the student graduates and leaves high school, update all program outcomes to complete (for the programs that the student did, in fact, complete).
