Background
Since 2005, the Council of the Federation (COF) has presented an annual literacy award to recognize outstanding achievement, innovative practice, and excellence in adult literacy. Each province and territory administer its own award based on a theme that is identified as relevant and appropriate to the literacy work that has been undertaken over the last twelve months. The selected recipient may include educators, literacy practitioners, volunteers, learners, and community organizations and businesses.
